Andria,
If we get as lucky in SC this year as we did in NC last year, we may learn some more about these Waldrops of ours.
The Michael we found was a son of Luke and Christian Waldrop. It wasn't in VA, it was in Granville Co., NC.The tax lists are extant for 1740's through 1770's.They are in the archives at Raleigh.
These tax lists are almost male censuses. The list the head of household, sons, brothers, slaves by name.
Michael, John, James, Joseph and Luke were all named in Luke's household. One year, Michael was named a brother in John's household.
Everything Howard and I have entered in our database is at rootsweb.com.If you go there, click on the "Family Trees" link at the top of the page. Then, on the Family Trees page scroll all the way to the bottom and type Waldrop in the last option and press GO, our database will be the first one...hwrdwl.Click on it and type in Waldrop, Matthew. You can see all we have.
One point of information. We call everyone a WaldrOp in the database. We have no drips, drups, droups, etc. That's for ease of navigation...
