Ben, This is from Irene Frey's 1962 Waldroop Book. Lucy Jane Blalock d. abt 1884 and was buried without services, but 3 weeks later services were held and on that same day Clinton married Rebecca (Holland) Rowen. She had four children from her Rowen marriage, 1) Zack 2) Doc 3) Matt 4) Lizzie. My father always said that there wasn't a preacher around when Lucy died so both funeral and marriage services took place on the same day when a preacher was available. Clinton's marrying so soon after his wife died is why my grandfather, Wm. Matthew, and his younger brother, Francis Marion, ran away and went to their older brother, John Clinton's place near Checotah, I. T.
Could Rebecca have been married twice, before she married Clinton Meek Waldroop, Rowen and Waring? Sebastion is the right county, so is Rebecca and 1885. I wish the clerk had written out what C.M. stood for. Waldroop is spelled wrong, but that is not unusual. So any thoughts anyone?
