Charles -

Please send me your email address so we can exchange info directly. Mine is hiphoptwo@bigfoot.com.

You certainly can fill in some blanks for me. I hope I can do the same for you. I am trying to accumulatee all the descendants of Adam Walker/Walcher. I was aware that one branch of the family uses the Walker name, but I did not know which one. I have accumulated so much data on my trips, that I do not have it all sorted, classified and posted. The Church and Cemetery in Concord is St John's, not St. James. I have spent several days in Concord, Statesville and Salisbury. There is a lot of data there that does not seem to be available by any other means than going to the library and digging for it. In the Cannon Library in Concord there is an archive called the McCubbin Files. In there I found a newspaper article about Alice Walker (I may have the given name wrong - this is from memory) who was 100 years old and was descended from Adam Walcher. There was also an article about a young man who had traced his ancestry to Adam Walcher for a high school project. His surname was Walker. All the descendants of Michael and Henry that I have uncovered use the name Walcher. I have some info on John Frederick, but do not have any of his descendats except Susanna.

The St. Johns Cemetery in Concord is about 3 blocks East of the Church on Corban Avenue. It is unmarked, abandones and vandalized. There are only a couple of stones standing. Several stones have been gathered together in a couple of groups on the ground. I could not locate any stones bearing Walker/Walcher names. Several of what I call "the associated families" (Carriker, Lipe, Blackwelder, Harkey) were there. The property is still owned by the church, but it looks like the property is being deliberately ignored so that someday it can be sold. I have found two transcriptions of the tombstones that were done while they were still standing. Curiously, one lists Anna Margaret as the consort of John Frederick, indicating that they were unmarried. The other book lists her as wife of J.F. Strange since both claim to be transcriptions. The word consort does not appear elsewhere in either book.

What can I help you with?
