Hi Tom,

I have Walch ancestors who were living around the Standish, Near Wigan area of Lancashire.

Have an Ellen who was born to Margaret and James in 1826.

Then the name becomes Walsh for every other ancestor.

I do know that my Grandpa always maintained that the origins of the Walsh's were Irish, but I haven't been able to make a connection yet despite searching endlessly. Nearest I got was Co. Mayo, but nothing absolute.

Also, my Gt. Grandmother was named Alice Walsh.

Would be extremely interested to hear anything you've found about this Family since, after reading some of the messages regarding Walch's from Germany, am totally confused.

All the best,
Jan.
