I failed to mention in my earlier post that the father my Thomas Walch (born 1825) was also named Thomas. He was born about 1800, and was a bookkeeper at one time. It seems that Thomas was a popular name in the Walch line, so I guess it's a case of keep looking until one finds the right connection. Good luck on you search.
