G'day Susan,
I have noted lots of references to Thomas Walch and have wondered about links but I have nothing positive. From william of Orange the story continues. My forefather was said to be a member of a regiment of Wallons that crossed to England with W of O. Later he fought in the Battle of the Boyne and was given a grant of land in Ireland as a reward. Now we start getting to facts. Solomon Walch was born in Ireland in 1760. His father died whilst he was very young. The Mother remarried and the stepfather was cruel to Solomon and took to him with a whip. Solomon ran away from home and got to America where he joined the British army and is said to have fought at the Battle of Bunkers Hill. The next information we have is that he was married and lived in Birmingham, England. The rest is well documented. He went to India in the Army. His son was given a commission, served in india, returned to England 1837 and migrated to Tasmania 1842. If you can ever make a link I will be over the moon
Best Wishes John walch
