Denise,
I am from Albury, NSW, Australia, and I would very much like to find out more about your Walch family tree as I have found some new information about our family. I am only a 'learner' in researching family history so any help would be appreciated.
The story about our family (not sure of its accuracy yet) is that William Walch (one of three brothers, we guess he was born about 1860's) came to Tasmania from England (not sure when). As for the other two brothers; one went to the US and one to NZ. William's son, Alfred Walch (died around 1967?) had Allan Edward Walch (living in Naranderra NSW) who had Karen, Jaimes and Bill Walch (my father in law). Our family live in Beechworth (Vic) and Albury (NSW), and we have recently heard of Walch's in Wangaratta (Vic) who have told the same story of how their family began.
Since doing a bit of snooping on the net, it seems there is a lot of Walch's in Tassie, and I'd love to find out more. Any info would be helpful and I hope to hear from you soon,
Regards,
Rebecca Walch
