I subscribe to a newspaper entitled, "Metropolis Planet". It is based in Metropolis, Massac Co., IL. The following article appeared in the April 1, 2009 issue, in a section entitled, "Yesterday's News", 70 Years Ago, Republic Herald, April 5, 1939:
"C.F. Walbright, 78, a merchant at Joppa for 32 years, died on March 30th. He was also a County Commissioner for nine years. He was born in Ohio and at age 21 moved to this section of Illinois where he resided the remainder of his life. Mr. Walbright was first married to Laura Alice Atwell with whom he had seven children, two of them preceding him in death. His wife died 21 years ago. His second wife, Mrs. Mary Taylor, whom he married in 1922, died in August of 1936. His only brother, Dr. George Walbright, also preceded him in death. Funeral services were held last Sunday at the Joppa Methodist Church, with burial in the I.O.O.F. cemetery north of Joppa."
The above C.F. Walbright is Chris Walbright. My grandmother's second husband, Fred Walbright, was one of his sons. Anothr of C.F. Walbright's sons was Elva. I can provide some additional information on this family, but do not know of anyone in the family that is involved in research.
Hope this is of help to someone.
