There is a book "The Life and Times of Thomas Wakley" by S. Squire Sprigge, and published by Longmans, Green and Co., 39 Paternoster Row, London, New York and Bombay, 1897, about the founder and first editor of the "Lancet", Member of Parliament for Finsbury, and Coroner for West Middlesex.
Henry Wakley, the father of the subject of the biography, was born in 1750 and was a "large farmer" in "the parish of Membury, on the Devonshire side of the border between that county and Dorsetshire, and a little south of the Somersetshire dividing line."Henry had eleven children (8 sons, 3 daughters), and lived to the age of 92.
