Yes he is related to them and also the Wakefields in Lincoln, Marshall and Giles counties. Old Sam Wakefield and his family moved from Burke County NC and settled in Petersburg around 1810 and Old Sam is buried on the John Sanders farm off the Petersburg-Delina road on the Lincoln county/Marshall County line.
