The name Furbay might have been a variation of Feribee (as I have seen it spelled), and it pops up around Stokes and Surry Counties in NC in the late 1700s and early 180s. Have you checked the Jacob Waitman line from Davidson County NC? He was related to the people of Stokes and Surry.
