We corresponded about a year ago and I still can't confirm a link to Laurens, SC but I feel that it is there. Rai French is the person who is from John Culpeper Wait who lived in Senatobia and he remembers that there is a family connection to Holly Springs but he is not sure about how it fits in yet.
I can confirm a link with Thomas Wait & Rhoda Sims of Sarepta, MS to the Laurens families. And that also confirms a Madison & Sarah ? Wait who are in Lafayette Co., MS for 1850 and then they go on to Arkansas for 1860. Thomas, Madison, and Zachariah were brothers. Zachariah & Rebecca Roberts Wait lived in Lowndes for 1850 and then moved to Oktibbeha Co. for 1870.
When was James Matthew Wait born? Are you sure that Tempe's name was Willard? Does the name of Sims connect with yours in any way? or Suggs?
I suspect he is another brother of theirs along with possibly Absolom. But I can't prove James or Absolom yet. The others are definites with deeds and court records. In fact, I just confirmed Thomas & Rhoda yesterday, as far as making sure that he was the same Thomas who was born in Laurens and lived there until 1845. That is also the same time when Madison & Zachariah moved away from Laurens.
