Hi, I just wanted to pass some information along to you.You may have aleady discovered this as your posting was quite some time ago.
According to the book, the "History of Town of Stratford, NH 1773-1925", Joseph and Nathanial Wait, sons of Benjamin Wait, came to Stratford from Ipswich, Mass.They settled on the Wait farm in Brunswick and built their houses near each other.Nathanial died in 1840.Joseph fell from his horse and died in 1823.Joseph Wait was chosen proprietor's clerk in 1786, and continued in that office several years; he was the first sheriff of Essex County; the first representative of the town; also selectmen.The town meeting was held at his house many years.Joseph had the following children:
Esther, m. Stephen Bliss
Fanny, m. Lovel Lawes
Mary, m. Abner Day
Anna, m. Elias Taylor, 3 ch.Mary, Nelson, Andrew
Rhoda
Joseph, Jr. -- enlisted in the U.S Serice and is supposed to have been killed by indians.
Sally, m. ______ Goff
Lydia, m. Elias Taylor
William m. Tabitha Holbrook, 8 ch. Cylene, Esther, Sarah, George, Mary, Lucy, Henry, William
Susan, m. Allen Luther.
