Dear Marilyn,

You are correct about the County lines. Washington County was formed from Albany in 1791.

If I am correct, this William Wait was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, and you might be able to find more about him by going to the LDS site and looking through their catalog. The presbyterian church records are on microfilm for that period.

If this is the right one, he performed the marriage ceremony for my grgrgrgr grandfather Deacon Abraham Wright and Phebe Burt, in Cambridge in 1787.
