I am trying to find more family information regarding a Lois Melissa or Melissa Lois Wainwright, born in VT abt 1822 (estimated from her enumerated age of 28 in the Rochester, Winsor Co., VT 1850 census) who married Daniel Willard Emerson abt 1845 and had one child, Ransom Emerson, born in 1847 in either Addison or Winsor Co., VT. I have photocopies of 1851 land deeds wherein Daniel W. and Lois M. Emerson sold their land (technically in Rochestor, Winsor Co., VT but right next to Hancock, Addison Co., VT) prior to moving to Columbia Co., Wisconsin, where it would appear that Lois/Melissa died prior to the 1860 census, wherein Daniel and son Ransom are enumerated together. I found the following information on page 339 in the biographical and genealogical section of "History of Salisbury, VT": "Jonathan Wainwright was from Cheshire, Connecticut, and moved into this town in 1805. He was a teamster in the revolutionary war. His descendants are Wainwright, Wooster, Hyde, Dyke, Sessions, Thomas, Severance, EMERSON, Beckwith, Barber, Spaulding, Smith, Beardsly, Guernsey, Pray, Howe, Northrop, and Wheeler." Anyone out there familiar with the parentage of this Lois/Melissa Wainwright? Anyone aware of a Wainwright probate in or near Addison Co., VT that lists an Emerson as a legatee? Thank you for any help. Notify Administrator about this message?
