This might be more proof of putting names and families together...My great grandfather was George Wailes Thomas born 3 Jan 1846 in GA, and I believe he ties into the Wailes and Covington lines. I'm still working on collecting documentation. I appreciate any help and guidance along the way...and talking to new cousins.

From Special Publications of the National Genealogical Society, Number 21, Passports Issued by Governors of Georgia 1785-1820 by Mary G. Bryan:

Richmond County
24th October 1806
Being about to pass through the Creek & Choctau Nations of Indians to the Town of Washington near Natchez, in Company with my brother, Mr. Edwd. Lloyd Wailes, we are desirous of obtaining your honors Passports.---I shall esteem it a favor if you will transmit them by my brother.---
I have learnt, Sir, that you have a brother residing near Natchez---Should you have any Commands it will afford me pleasure to attend to them.---I believe I shall take up permanent residence in the Mississippi Territory. An introductory letter to your brother will particularly oblige.
Your very respectfull & most obt. Servt.
