The following was found in a Person Co., NC., deed book. It refers to property in Mecklenburg Co., VA. I wish to identify Charles Burton and his wife Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth Burton to Cuthbert Wagstaff,for $100,60a in Mecklenburg Co., VA, on Butcher's Creek adj Joseph Davis, James Eubanks..to be held during natural life of Elizabeth Burton; all her right and interest to negro slaves. This property came to her through the death of her husband Charles Burton of Mecklenburg Co., VA, as dower right, she contested the will for her one-third part. 5 Jan 1825.
