One of the more famous individuals named Wagener is Gen. John Andreas Wagener, born in Sievern, Germany. He became mayor of Charleston, S.C., immigration commissioner, founder of Walhalla, S.C., and founder of many organizations. See my website: http://hubcap.clemson.edu/german/WagenerMonth.html.
