One of Celia Wadley Barber's children, TN, please help!

I learned from the LDS website that John Marcus Barber and Celia Wadley Barber had a son named Samuel. This child would be exactly the right age and born in the right place to be my gggrandfather William Samuel Barber. The family names also look very familiar. Can anyone give me a clue as to why this Samuel was not listed as part of the J.M. and Celia Barber family in the 1860 Census of Bedford Co. TN when he should have been about 7 years old? Did this Samuel die in childhood? If so, I'm back to square one. Please help.
