Do you have this?Timothy Wadleigh b. Shapleigh ME 09 May 1800 and d. 08 July 1870 married Nancy who was born 10 July 1798 and d. 25 April 1890.Both buried in the Corinna Center Cemetery, Corinna, ME.
A daughter was Eliza J. (Wadleigh) Lancaster, whose husband, Henry, died in LA in the Civil War - I think 7 children (?).Eliza married 2nd Charles Benjamin Dow who had changed his name from Benjamin Dow Evans. They had two children. They seemed to be in Bangor at this point but this family moved a lot.
His first wife, Sarah Haskell (Goodwin) is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor ME.So is Charles B. Dow, and also little Sarah, D/O Charles and Eliza.Fred was their son and lived in Winterport, Maine. He moved to Massachusetts.
His son Clyde Wadleigh Dow had a son, Clyde Wadleigh Dow, who had a child or children.A direct line contact of Fred has written me - seems he is not sharing with me - so it is one sided.Maybe I could connect you to him and it might work for you.I have material that says the Wadleighs were from New Hampshire, town unknown.
A lady who recently passed away, age 91 in Washington State, Seattle - Mrs. Helen Lancaster Brown, had wanted to do a book on Lancasters.I found her death notice just last week, and have asked the library to send me a copy of her full newspaper obituary, through Ask-A-Librarian and they said it might take a couple weeks, even with dates as they have quite a backlog of questions. I hope her obituary might name children and then a contact could be made.I can find no reference to a book-yet.
Eliza J. (Wadleigh) Lancaster Dow is buried in Lincoln ME, above Bangor.I had a note about Timothy and Nancy saying they were buried with her.BUT, they can not be in two places.I'm away from Maine and my notes - but need to check dates. It seems these people would be her parents anyway..
When Eliza married, her children, some say were abandoned, but I rather believe they were placed out for a while as census shows at least one back with her and Charles. As I am from Benjamin Dow Evans, AKA-Also Known As, Charles Benjamin Dow, I did not follow the Wadleighs, but still collect material as I see it.Tell me why you are asking - like do you trace from them - in which direction?Let's keep talking here.Becky Dow Burnham
