You might want to try looking at the census records for Stone, Wright and Douglas Counties, MO. in 1850. These families went from KY to MO in about 1845-1849. They definitely intermarried. IF indeed she was the victim of abuse by a WADKINS, it well could be, my own grandfather was "a dirty old man"!!

You should find one Joseph and Sarah CAM(E)RON along with children, some of which were Henderson, James, William, two Joseph's, one a WADKINS the other a YOCUM, actually their grandson. This is not in birth order and there were several others including some girls. Their son, William WADKINS, was my gggrandfather. His son Mose Columbus WATKINS was my grandfather.
