Hi Chris,
I just found a Web site that might interest you. http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/
Go to that site and do a search on Wadhams. The only page that comes up is a Rochester newspaper page from January, 1922. If you scroll down a little you'll come to an announcement of the death of a Mr. Shafer in Brockport. It says that one of his daughters was a Mrs. Charles H. Wadhams of Brockport.
Henry Averill is our common ancestor on your grandmother's side. We don't know anything for sure about his ancestry, but there's a chance he is connected somehow to Sarah Averill who was hanged in Salem. She was probably hanged because some people were angry with things her son ( a constable) had to do as part of his job. Very sad, isn't it?
Please let me know about the Wadhams Web site you plan to develop. It sounds really interesting.
