Robert,
I am perhaps going out on a limb here, but I am trying to connect my ancestor William Wade to this family, based on location and naming patterns. Now, William Wade was born 1807 in GA, Married Jane Langford Jan. 1826, they had three children, John W. Wade, born Nov. 1826, my great-great-grandmother, Mary Jane Wade, Jan. 16, 1828, and another son, James, don't know his date of birth. Mary Jane Wade married Robert Bailey Chandler. Their children's names are as follows:
William Robert Chandler
Lettie Jane Chandler
James Lewis Chandler
Asa Andrew Chandler
George Washington Chandler
John Monroe Chandler
Margaret Ann Chandler
Alonzo Harris Chandler
Martha Elizabeth Chandler
Hezekiah Amos Chandler
Savannah Avery Chandler
Eli Clayton Chandler
Ancy Netta Chandler
Oliver Henry Chandler
Mary Bailey Chandler
You can see by their names there seems to be some connection to Asa's family. Now, I looked for Wades in the Gwinnett/Cobb County census, not sure off the top of my head, but leaning toward Gwinnett, for 1840, that could be the right age to be the father of William, and found an Asa and a James. William was in the Cobb County 1840 census with a wife, two sons, and one daughter, which fits my family. His wife Jane died in April of 1850. Now, heres where things get interesting. William Wade is found in the August 1850 census in the Cobb County Jail for poisoning his wife. He is listed as 42 years of age. Listed directly under him is a Mary Wade, age 45, in for the same crime. I am not sure who this Mary Wade is. Did he marry her after he poisoned Jane? Is she a sister, cousin, sister-in-law? I'm not sure. Another Wade researcher that I am working with has William's date of death as 1850. Now, if he was in the Cobb County Jail, August 1850, then his death would have to be between August 1850, and December 1850. I know the only thing that throws my theory off, is the counties. But is it possible that the William Wade who's land was sold to Asa and Harris, was my William, and that it was represented by and attorney, because he was put to death for the murder of his wife? Even though William lived in Cobb County, might he have had this property in Gwinnett county also? I know it's a long shot, but a lot of it makes sence. Also, do you know if Asa had a brother named James? I just feel strongly we connect somehow. You may answer me directly at [email protected] if you like. Thank you for your time.
