WILLIAM S. WADE eldest son of ISAAC and ELLINAR WADE, was born in Indiana, August 4, l84l, and passed away at his home north of Hebron after a very brief illness, December l0, l9l8, aged 77 years, 4 months and 6 days.He had eight brothers and sisters, five of whom preceded him to the better world.
When our subject was 6 years old he came with his parents to Iowa, locating in Des Moines County, where the family lived for ten years, coming then to Clarke County, locating in Green Bay Township.
In l86l, he enlisted in the Missouri State Militia, in which he served three years.His time expiring, He re-enlisted in the 6th Missouri Cavalry, and served until the end of the war, participating in many hard fought battles.He was honorably discharged in July, l865, and returned to his home in Clarke County.
In l874, he was united in marriage to HARRIET S. GARDNER, who died February l5, l9ll.Five children came to grace their home, four boys and one girl.The oldest boy, PEARL, died in l886.JAMES I., MRS. TOM CHANEY and JOHN W. all reside in this immediate vicinity, while T.C. lived with his father at the old home.Besides the children mentioned, there are left to mourn his departure, four grandhcildren, two brothers, JAMES A., of Osceola; CHAS WADE, of Lincoln, Nebraska; and one sister, MRS. ELIZABETH HART, of Osceola; besides numerous other relatives.
WM. S. WADE was a man whose soul was filled with love and good cheer for his fellow men.He will be missed and mourned not only by his own family to whom he was ever kind and loving, but by all neighbors and friends with whom he came in contact.Funeral services were held at the home, Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Larrick.Interment in the Hebron Cemetery.
