Elias Wade (1868-1942) AL, AR, &OK
I am still looking for information about my great-grandfather Elias Edward Wade. All I know about him is that he was born in either Alabama or Georgia in about 1868. I don't know who his parents were but I do know that he was part native American. He was probably either Cherokee or Creek or maybe Choctaw. He married my great-grandmother, Luemmra (Lula) Willingham in about 1895 or 1896 probably in Lawrence County Alabama. My great-grandmother's family, the Willinghams, were living in Lawrence County at that time. My ggrandparents' oldest child, my grandmother, was born on October 06, 1898 in Mt. Hope, Lawrence County, Alabama. About 1900, my ggrandmother's family moved to Franklin County Arkansas. My ggrandparents followed them, with my six year old grandmother in tow, about 1904. They lived in Arkansas until about 1916 when they moved to Shamrock, Creek County, Oklahoma. This is the last place that they moved to. My ggrandmother Luemmra (Lula) Willingham Wade died there in the early 1930's. Her husband and my ggrandfather Elias Edward Wade died at his home north of Shamrock in 1942. They are both buried in the Shamrock City Cemetery. If anyone knows anything at all about my ggrandfather or his parents and ancestry, please place a followup in this forum. Thank you, Carlyon Sue McKinney
