My Gr.gr.gr. grandfather and grandmother were William Hay(s) and Jane Wade.John B. Hay(s) and Ursula Haddix Hay(s) are my gr. gr. grandfather and grandmother.
JOHN B. HAY(s) was born ON DECEMBER 1, 1799 in Virginia.
John B. Hay's parents were William and Jane Wade Hay. John B. Hay's wife was Ursula Haddix Hay, they married on 1/8/1820. They had the following children:
- Jane Hays B 1821
- Sarah Hays B 1822
- Nancy Hays B 1823
- William Hays B 1825
- John Butter Hays B 1832
- Adrian Hays B 1833
- Gabriel HaysB 1835
- Henley Hays B 1839
I have a history of the family written by my great grandfather Gabriel Hays who was born to John B. and Ursula Haddix Hay(s) in 1835.At the top of this narrative he wirtes John B. Hay(s) birthday is 12/1/1799 and death as 3/7/1939. I have reprinted the narrative below:
NARRATIVEOF GABRIEL HAYS, B. 2/22/1835, D. 1/9/1916
SON OF JOHN B. HAYS AND URSULA HADDIX HAYS.
WRITTEN ON 7/7/1915 FOR HIS DAUGHTER MARYEVALYNE HAYS MORROW.
My Father, John B. Hay, died March 7, 1839 near where
Jackson Breathitt County, Ky. Were since located: and from the
best information I can gather handed down from posterity:There were five brothers Scotchmen named Hay:Came across the Cumberland mountain from Old Va. Into Breathitt County, Ky:earlyin the last century.John Hay: one of the brothers lived and died there:Adriananother one of the brothers went to Rockcastle County, Ky lived and died there:William Hay my grandfather went from there to Barren Co Ky lived and died there:
The other two brothers: went off down the river in the direction of Indiana and Ohio and was never heard from by the other brothers
My grandmother on Father side name Wade of English descent and on Mother side name Tate: your Grandmother on Father side name Haddix and on Mothers side name Merrett of German descent
