Scotland to Ireland connection sought
Posted by: James Waddell (ID *****6137) Date: December 29, 2009 at 21:43:20

I have traced my ancestry back to County Donegal, IR in the 1750 to 1800 time frame.

My Waddles/Waddells originated in Scotland according to family legends. I am trying to verify that legend and have hopes someone has documented info regarding this migration.

My ancestor is Robert Waddell who immigrates to the USA in the early 1820's from around Convoy in County Donegal.

His mother is Esther, maiden name unk, who was born about 1758 and lived in the same place as Robert until 1828 when she also immigrated without a husband. The husband's given name is not documented but Roberts children are sons named George, Robert, and James. I assume that Robert's father is named one of those due to patronomic naming.

Any info on the migration of the Waddells would be appreciated.
