I am seeking information on the ancstors of a Marietta (aka Mary E.) Waddell/Waddel who married 14 FEB 1882, Jackson County, Georgia Joseph Ansley, son of Rayford Ansley & his wife, Abigail Presley. The marriage lic shows the relationship above as well as the parents of Marietta - J.G. Waddel & Emeline Waddel. In searching for this family I found them listed under a different surname. I am hoping someone will recognize this family and be able to help me explain why I am finding these "odd" things. Keep reading.... The following family was found in Hall County for the 1860 census. This record indicates to me that there is a connection between the Gable family and the Waddell family. I believe that the J.G. Gable shown here is actually J.G. Waddell and family. It is recorded here as actually shown on the census record on June 29th, 1860: J. G. Gable (25 male white farmer, Real Estate $150, Personal estate $100, born in South Carolina), Emaline (25 female born in South Carolina), Wm. (9 male born in South Carolina/ Georgia -both shown?), and Marietta (2 female born in South Carolina). Note: They are living next door to Mary Gable, age 77 female born in South Carolina, who is shown as a pauper. Living with her are Elizabeth Gable, female age 19, born in Georgia and Sarah, female age 6/12 also born in Georgia. Living next door to them is a P. Waddle, male aged 21 born in South Carolina with his supposed wife, Eliza who is 29, born in South Carolina. There is also a 15 year old female, Martha, born in South Carolina, enumerated in the house. Relationships not known. As a final note I found the following & I believe this to be J.G. Waddel - father of Marietta Waddel Ansley. As you can see he dies in Nashville in the civil war. Name: J Gable , Enlistment Date: 1 Mar 1863 Side Served: Confederacy State Served: Georgia Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 1 March 1863. Enlisted in Company E, 64th Infantry Regiment Georgia on 1 Mar 1863. Died Company E, 64th Infantry Regiment Georgia on 13 Dec 1864 at Nashville, TN. If you have any ties to this family or have any idea's on what is happening here, I'd love to hear from you. You can respond on here or to my personal email. Thanks in advance for reading this long post. Karen ANSLEY Krugman Notify Administrator about this message?
