North Carolina Troops 1861-1865 A Roster

Co. G 58th Regiment NC Troops

Wacaster, Jacob Hassel, Private

Enlisted at Camp Huston on October 1, 1862, for the war. Reported absent without leave in March-June, 1863. Dropped from the company rolls prior to October 1, 1863. Later served as Private in Company A of this regiment.

Co. A 58th Regiment NC Troops

Wacaster, Jacob Hassel, Private

Previously served as Private in Company G of this regiment. Enlisted in this company at Dalton, Georgia, January 14, 1864. Reported absent without leave on or about February 29, 1864. Listed as a deserter on April 19, 1864. [North Carolina pension records indicate that he was injured near “Stony Face (Rocky Face Ridge),” Georgia in February 1864 when a bursting shell caused a tree to fall on him, breaking three ribs. The explosion also caused permanent deafness, partial loss of eyesight, and vertigo.]
