Looking for information on a Gribben/Gribbon family that was living in Whitman Co between 1883 and 1910. Thomas Gribben was born ca 1820 Ireland, wife Elizabeth ??? born ca 1830/2 Ireland. Known children: M. J. (female) born ca 1861 NY, Elizabeth b. ca 1866 CA, Sarah b. 1869 CA, & Thomas b. 1872 CA. Possibly another daughter Mollie b. ca 1863 NY. Maybe more? All are listed on the 1883 Territorial census.
By 1887 daughter Elizabeth had married Ephraim Josiah Dent, son of Harris & Martha Jane (SHEPHERD) DENT. Elizabeth & Ephraim are listed on 1887 census. Mother Elizabeth is listed with daughter Sarah & son Thomas. All 3 are listed as single. Where and when did Thomas, Sr die and where buried? Also need same information on Elizabeth.
Elizabeth & Ephraim Josiah Dent possibly moved to Columbia Co, WA after 1890. Moved to Lane Co, OR about 1895/6. They later separated, but never divorced. Elizabeth died 1925 in Grays Harbor Co, WA and is buried there. She was living with daughter Goldie. Ephraim died in Walla Walla, WA and is buried there. Known children: Mabel b. 1887 WA (m. Richard HURNDON?), Bertie Ernest b. 1890 WA, Waldo/Walter b. 1892 WA (M. Thelma Bertha WHEELER), Florence Oma b. ca 1896 OR (m. ?? MATTHEWS?), Goldie b. ca 1899 OR (m. Arthur FERGUSON). Family story says one other child died young. I have some information on descendents of Bertie and Walter. Goldie married, but no issue. What happened to Mabel & Florence?
Thomas, Jr listed on 1910 Whitman Co census, with 2nd wife Laura ??. Married ca 1906/7. Known children: Harold b. ca 1900, Gurtrude E. b. ca 1903, Marie F. b. ca 1905 & Charles b. ca 1909. Neither Harold or Charles are listed on the SS Death Index.
Would love to hear from any descendents of these people.
