Hi,
I am looking for information about James Benton who came through on the Oregon Trail in 1864/65. He was the Postmaster in Colfax, Washington. According to his obiturary, he brought ""red chaff" wheat to the Palouse. His oldest child was one of the first three white children born in this area." He died in 1924 in Eugene, Oregon and had two children, Nettie B. Benton m. ? Manning and Harry Benton. James is my gg-grand uncle and brother to my gg-grandfather who is buried in one of the cemeteries in Colfax. I am trying to locate descendants and gather information.

Thanks,
Gwendolyn Prater Dalseg
