Hi Wendy, I didn't find anything on Cora or her mother Melissa.
I did find that Israel and his second wife Kate or Catherine lived in Nooksak 1900-1920 which you probably already know.
But what I found about Almer Brooks was very interesting. In fact, I think he's your Almer because the children's names match but I think he was divorced from Cora in 1900.
In 1900 Almer and children were living in Albion, Republic Co., KS. Almer b. Sept. 1866, IL, divorced, farmer; Earl L., b. July 1889, KS; Laurance b. May 1891, KS and John O. b. March 1896, WA.
In 1910 Almer and Jennie Brooks lived in Merritt, Chelan Co., WA. Almer A., 43; Jennie, 41; John, 14; Alta, 16; Anna Sumner, 19 and Justier Sell, 34.
In 1930 Almer A. and L. Jane Brooks lived in Merritt. Almer A., 63 and L. Jane, 62.
Almer A. Brooks d. 25 Jan 1940, Chelan Co.; age-73, b. abt. 1867. Source: WA Death Index 1940-1996.
Earl Le Roy Brooks was living in Whatcom Co., WA during WWI where he filled out his draft reg. card. He was b. 7 July 1889, KS.
John Oliver Brooks filled out his draft reg card during World War I. He was living in Chelan Co., WA. He was b. 14 March 1896, WA.
In 1930 John O. Brooks and family were living in Winton, Chelan Co., WA. John O., 34; Ruth E., wife, 27; Ernest W. 9; Dora B., 5; Virginia M., 6; Herbert E., 5; and Herbert E. Stuart, 18.
John O. Brooks died 1 April 1951, Skagit Co., WA; age=55, b. abt. 1896 per death cert #7494. Source: WA Death Index 1940-1996.
This seems like a big difference from what you posted so I didn't write down all the details. I can get those if you want. Successful Hunting!
