Migration from Missouri to Bellingham

Would like to know of other families that migrated from Johnson County, Missouri to Whatcom County.
I have 3 Bowen siblings who were in Bellingham in 1924. Originally from Johnson County, Missouri.
Mary Bowen Moore b. 1872,
Alice Bowen b. 1876 m. George Martinich,
John "Jack" Bowen b. 1874, m. Margaret Clary b. 1884
Mary was widowed, possibly before she moved to Bellingham. Mary returned to Missouri, where she was a school teacher.
Her sister Alice married George Martinich, unknown date or place. He was an Elder in the Jehovnah Witness religion. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona.
Jack, with wife Margaret and 7 children moved from Eastern Washington in 1924. They raised their family in Bellingham and both are buried there. Jack died about 1969, Margaret died in 1967. Jack and Margaret were members of the Bible Students of America. Evidently the Bible Students of America religious following no longer exists.

I am interested in what brought these people to Bellingham. Was there possibly a religious group that relocated?
