Found this article in the Seattle Daily Times. Apparently Porter was living in Oakland, California and was just visiting Seattle when he died.

The Seattle Daily Times
19 April 1950, Page 17

Man Dies in Downtown Hotel
Porter T Rhoades about 68 years old, of Oakland, Calif., was found dead, apparently of natural causes yesterday afternoon in his room at the Gatewood Hotel, First Avenue and Pine Street.

Rhoades succumbed as he was taking a bath, according to Coroner John P Brill, Jr. He registered at the hotel yesterday afternoon. The body was taken to the King County morgue, awaiting completion of funeral arrangements.

There is only a death notice in the Seattle Daily Times, which says nothing other than the death date and his residence as Oakland California
