Hi Pat, Ervin Elisha Yardley married Ethel Benson 1 April 1903. His parents were Thomas Yardley and Joanna Isabell Keyes. Ervin was born in Iron, Parawan Co., UT 23 Feb 1881. He died 30 Oct 1938. Source: Ancestry.com, Family Data Collection-Individual Records.

Ervin filled out his World War I Draft Reg Card in 1917 or 1918. At that time he lived at 1872 S. 11th East, Salt Lake City. He was born 23 Feb 1881. He was 37 and a laborer at the Board of Education, SLC. His nearest relative was Marie Yardley at same address. He had light brown eyes and hair.

Seems like Ethel was wife #1 and Marie was wife #2.

The 1920 Salt Lake City Census shows Ervin as a laborer at a cement construction. His wife Marie was born in Norway, immigrated in 1910 and was naturalized in 1912. She was 39 yrs old. All children were born un UT. Ervina (dau) was 6; Oscar was 3 7/12ths and Isabelle was 1 3/12ths.

The family still lived in Salt Lake City in 1930. Ervin was a "operator transportation). He and Marie had been married abt. 30 yrs. Ervenia was 16, Ocar was 14 and Isabelle was 11.

That's the last Census that is viewable at this time and there ends the easy way to find out about families. From 1931 to the present you have to search probate of wills, tax records, school records or find the city/county Directory books. The City/County Directory books are excellent sources and are generally found in a local genealogy society or library. To find names and how to contact local genealogy societies, look them up in rootsweb.com, choose state and choose county.

To get a copy of his obit, send an email to askalibrarian@secstate.wa.gov with his name, death date and place. They will search the newspaper microfilm and reply via email for FREE!

I didn't find anything for his wife June and assume she re-married.

It would have been helpful if you had identified whose obituary you put in your post too.

Ervenia M. Driscal, 561-18-5428, last residence was West Covina, Los Angeles Co., CA [this could have been where her last benefit check was mailed]. She was born 16 Aug 1913 and died 17 Oct 1998. Her soc. sec. # was assigned to her in CA before 1951.

A David B. Yardley lives in Salt Lake City and Parowan, Iron Co., UT. A David I. Yardley lives in SLC and Cedar City and Parowan, Iron Co., UT. A David W. Yardley lives in Meridian, Ada Co., ID.

I didn't find anything on Isabell and assume she's still alive or re-married since the obituary published. Judy.
