An August W. Johnson died 17 Dec 1978, Everett [Snohomish Co.] WA. He was born abt. 1899. He lived in Snohomish [or his last benefit check was mailed there] per WA death cert #028977.

An August Johnson, 531-14-5782, last residence was Everett, Snohomish Co., WA. He was was born 11 July 1899. His last benefit check was mailed to Seattle, King Co., WA. He died Dec. 1978. His soc. sec # was assigned to him in WA before 1951.

Since this August appears to be yours, you can send an email to and ask them for an obit. Provide them his name, where and when he died and where his last benefit check was mailed to. They will search the newspaper microfilm and try to find his obit and email it to you for FREE!

The challenge with this name is that there were two August Johnsons. In the 1930 Burlington, Des Moines Co., IA Census one was born. abt. 1900, IL and had a wife Lydia.

In the 1930 Chicago, Cook Co., IL Census another August W. Johnson was born abt. 1899, IL and had a wife Myrtle.

I found an August Johnson in the 1900 Chicago, Cook Co., IL Census who was 4 mos old.

I also found an August W. Johnson who was a messman on the "Hawaiian Lumberman" on 5/29/1953. He had served at sea for 18 years, been engaged as a messman 5/5/1953, San Francisco. He was 5'9", 195 lbs and born 7/11/1899, IL, USA. The ship had left New Westminster, B. C. and arrived in Astoria, OR.

Unless you have more information it's almost impossible to tell which one is your August W. Johnson.
