Hi Andrew, I also found W. E. Stone in the 1857 Minnesota Territorial Census Cannon Falls, Goodhue Co., MN. He was born in NY, abt. 1829 and was a carpenter living in a boarding house.

Then on the same Census I found another W. E. Stone in Township 111, Goodhue Co. who was 30, born in NY and a farmer. His wife was Laura, 24, born in NY. Daughter Khodell, 4, born in NY and W. E. Stone Jr., 2, born in NY.

Their next door neighbor was Ellery Stone, 54, born in VT, Farmer. His wife Sivonia or Livonia, 53 and born in VT. Eugean, 24, male, b. Penn and farmer and Silas, 13, male, b. in NY.

In 1860 William Stone and family live in Leon, Goodhue, MN. He was born abt. 1831, NY and he's a farmer. His wife Laura was 24 & born in NY. Son Silas E. was 4 & b. in NY. Son Loran was born in MN & 2 yrs old.

A William Stone born abt. 1828 in NY and family was living in Chetopa Richland, Labette Co., KS. He was either a wagon broker or maker. I'm not so sure this family is yours. His wife Laura was 35 & b. NY. His son Elbert was 14 & b. in NY. His son G or Laraine, 12 yrs old was born in MN. However, Elbert could have been Silas E and the G or Laraine a garbled spelling of Loran.

I also found them in Rosita, Custer Co., CO. However Silas E. isn't with the family. A new addition to the family is Lee, b. MO & 9.

I didn't find Laura in subsequent Censuses. Check This is an excellent web site for burials in eastern WA.

I found a Loren Stone and wife Rosa in 1910 in Beeman. Loren was b. MN, 51 and a farmer on home farm. Rosa was b. IL & 50 and had no children.

In Feb. 1971 a Lee Stone, 531-50-9444, died. His last residence (which also might be where his last check was mailed) was Wenatchee, Chelan Co., WA. He was born 14 May 1871. His soc. sec # was assigned to him in WA in 1964.

Check out Wenatchee Area Genealogy Society for a copy of his obituary, if he was buried in Douglas or Chelan Counties and if there are any newspaper or book articles with his name in them. Also check out if you don't find him buried in Douglas or Chelan Counties. For a small fee they can look him up in the Chelan County and Wenatchee Directory and tell you where he lived and what his occupation was.
