This is all our family knows about our Jerrett ancestor.
Mr Jerrett was born about 1848 in France; he married Mary Ann Walker, born about 1849 in Glasgow, Scotland. They had three children George, born before 1875, Frances Muriel, born 1875 Edinburgh, Scotland, Henry -or James Henry- born Edinburgh, 1878.
They were orphaned. The English went up into Scotland and removed the orphans, shipped them to Canada to be indentured servants Henry was lucky; he was sent to Canada as an indentured servant and worked for a very kind man to whom he re-indentured himself to pay for Frances' way over. My father stressed how kind the man was for whom his father worked, saying it was unusual.
I located both -as young adults, in 1900, at Cypress, Cavalier County, North Dakota. Henry was a servant. Frances married a Phillips, she died, and her children moved to Canada and to Oregon/Washington. Henry moved to Oregon, married Ella Pechin, and they had three boys. One stayed in Oregon, two moved to Washington. There are two more generations in Washington and Oregon.
