I am trying to locate a Harry Best (John Henry Best) and his Wife Annie Best nee Mellow. (Philipa Annie Mellow) and their two sons, Carl and Daulferd Best, all born in Cornwall. They arrived from Cornwall via Ellis Island on 5 July 1903.
They were last heard of around Calumet, Houghton Co, Michigan. Harry as he was always known & actually married in Cornwall under that name, usually worked as a miner or worked the winding gear or pumping machinery at the mine.
He may have come WEST from Michigan to Washington State and perhaps them moved North into Canada. Annie Best was known to have died of consumption (TB) at a place and date unknown.
I am compiling the BEST family tree and would welcome anyone who has any info or names and addresses of any descendants.
My BEST family, due to hard times in Cornwall, emigrated to Australia-New Zealand- several States in the USA and also to Canada. There are still relatives of Harry Best living in Cornwall from his direct family line.
