What happened to T(h)eodora Kylleberg b. 1893 after she came to the USA? I cannot find her in NY or California
The family story is that Teodora, who was a pleiebarn/foster child (1900 census) at the home of Peder & Rebecca Tonnessen and Reinert & Olav Larsen was from a neighboring farm (possibly Vere, Jolle or Penne). She went to Amerika and sent "home" packages while she was in NY. When she had the opportunity to follow her dream, Teodora left for California/the West Cost and was never heard from again. Teodora simply disappeared. Did she die? Was she married?
Her parents were thought to be Tonnes Andreas Jacobsen b. 1832 paa Lista & Joren Petersdtr. (1875 census show she is from Egersund). But I don't think that makes sense as their other children (see below) are much, much older. I am thinking that Teodora might be one of Tonnes Andreas Jacobsen & Joren Petersdtr's grandchildren.
Any help would be appreciated.
From LDS IGI
Tonnes Andreas Jakobsen & Joren Petersdtr's Children:
Jorgen Tobias Tonnes Andreasen b. 1860
Anne Tonnes Andreasdatter b. 1862
Peter Johan Tonnes Andreassen b. 1866
Andrea Josephine Tonnesdtr b. 1869
Jorgine Jacobsen b. 1871
Teodor Medbred Jacobsen b. 1873 (see below)
Emanuel Jacobsen b. 1878
Lena Jacobsen b. 1880
Teodor Medbred Jacobsen was known as Tom Tomsen/Thompson Penne during the time he lived in Brooklyn NY. Kristian Hansen's (b. 1870s, Jolle) 24 March 1923 Ellis Island papers show that he was going to the home of his friend Tom Tomsen Penne at 96 Ligner Str, Brooklyn. But, I cannot find a Ligner Street in Brooklyn. (There's even a website with obsolete streets in Brooklyn).
Teodor Medbred Jacobsen's confirmation records (Digitalarkivet) shows that he was born at Jolle and by the time of his September 1888 confirmation he & his parents lived at Penne. This record also confirms the names of his parents.
Ellis Island Records: Teodor Tomsen, US Citizen arriving from Christiana 8 Feb 1911 may be Teodor Medbred Jacoben. This ship, Hellig Olav, seems to have been filled with passengers from Vanse, Farsund and Lyngdal.
One more question, is Medbred an obsolete name like Mons or is it a place or ???
