Has anyone ever seen a 'Nellie' Lightcap/Lightkep in your searches? I have a great grandfather, Edwin Larison Fenton who supposedly married a Nellie Lightcap but she died when their son, Randal was 11 years old. He never remarried and in fact disappeared from Colorado on a buckboard and horses they say and was never heard from again and is assumed to have died and is buried in Texas but no proof of that, yet...... Their children were Randal Fenton (no middle name on purpose), Hattie (don't know if this was, perhaps, 'Harriat" or some such) who married a Willis Meyers, Walter and Edward (I am told he never married) and perhaps, a Harold who died as a child. The father lived in Germantown, PA, although, maybe after Nellie's death, but ..............Randal, their son, was born in Washington DC. in 1885 It makes me think that Nellie was from somewhere outside of Germantown area of Pennsylvania and that both she and Randal had a connection to Washington DC. I only have family stories, no dates except for the son's birth. The name, 'Nellie' is a given or is that some nickname? Does anyone know of such names in the mid to late 1800's? Did people use 'nicknames' for children or was it more formal and given names were never shortened??? Notify Administrator about this message?
