Could this be your Veva? Name is spelled differently and she is the only child listed.

From FamilySearch:

1920 census of Benton Co. Washington (no city listed)

Vava age 12 (1908) born WA, father born WA, mother born OR
Samuel age 54 (1866) born Wa, father born TN, mother born U.S.
Ester age 46 (1874) born OR, father born IA, mother born TN

Another entry shows Samuel Hastings who died 30 Sept 1943 in Oregon Wife is Esther Jane Rose and they married 28 November 1894 in Salem, Marion Co. OR.

Found nothing more on Veva in Oregon but probably need a married name???
