Thank you so much for your response.
Yes, that is my family.
But...
I'm actually trying to confirm the origin and identity of Samuel's parents.
On Samuel's Death Certificate, his parents are stated as, James O'Neil and Mary Atkinson.
James and Mary don't appear anywhere else in my VERIFIED O'Neill family history.
What I need is a birth record.
But since he was born in 1859 he would only appear in church records, if at all.
But I don't know how to get in touch with the parish records, or if the family was definitly Catholic.
I don't think such records are on the internet. I may have to write to every church that existed in Buffalo, in 1859.
Family "stories" can lead one to believe that his parents came from every corner of Ireland. Tyrone, Cork, and Down are in my memory, but I also have to consider that I grew up with the story that my grandfather was born in Ireland.
I easily disproved that by looking through census records.
James and Mary are such typical names that they have made it daunting to sort through all the families, or determine if there is in fact a relationship.
