Peter, The 1920 US Census for Chehalis, Lewis County Martin Faubel, age 72 (born circa 1847/1848-meets too young for Civil War criteria), widower, born in Maryland to both parents born in Germany. Lewis County does not have a GenWeb Internet site. The Lewis County Gennealogical Society does: http://www.rootsweb.com/~walcgs/ It lists the cemeteries by name in the county. Internment.net is pretty much worthless for finding people. The USGenWeb Tombstone Project has a number of Lewis County cemeteries: http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/washington/wa-lewis.htm To save you some time, look in the Claquato Cemetery, Surnames E-G to find a Martin Faubel. Bonnie Mason has an email link, she might take a photo of the grave stone, if Martin could be your sought person. Martin L. Faubel did file for Civil War Pension on May 20, 1919, his attorney was J.B. Bralle & Co. I sent the image directly to you. "IF" this is the same person as the John you have information, his attorney in 1921 that you indicate, may be a subsequent attorney, or subsequent letter. Without knowing what information you have, I could only speculate on that matter. --The Civil War Service Records do show a Martin Faubel, company H, 27 Pennsylvania Infantry. The 55th PA Volunteers could be a unit combining with, or becoming the 27th. The 1910 Census also shows Martin Faubel, age 62, other information the same. The 1890 Veterans Schedules Census shows Martin faubLE living in Franklin, Gloucester Co, New Jersey. It shows he was a private, 27th PA Inf from May 1861 to May 1862; then 119th PA Inf from 14 Aug 1862 to 13 June 1865, service 3 years, 9 months and 29 days. The 1860 Census for Lock Haven, Clinton Co, PA Martin "Fable", age 11 (circa 1848/49), son of Charles 45 and Anna 29 Fable. Siblings are Margaret 16, Christian 12, Barbara 10, Charlott 8, Charles 1. ---Also in Lock Haven Martin "Fauble", age 8, Siblings Fredrick 6, Harriet 3, Angel 1 They are listed at the top of the page, the preceding page shows a Nicholas Styres 48 and Sarah 45. So, the children might be Sarah's. Again, I don't know what information you have on your Civil War vet, but Martin is probably the John that you seek in Chehalis. Here also is a good Civil War finder: http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.cfm I served as a National Park Ranger for 12 years during my Federal career. It brought me to Gettysburg from 1980 to 1984. Now due to the spouse I picked up there, I get back periodically. Beautiful place, just to humid, hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Ron Bestrom Notify Administrator about this message?
