Mrs. Kathryn O'Brian, of East White Buffs, Wash.; Mrs. Caroline Drumheller, of Seattle; George, Lidwinnie, Leonard T., and Frank. Anna T., Robert, and Charles deceased. Eleven grandchildren. Funeral held on 19th of Oct. Wilbur Cem.

Damian was in the 97th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War.

DEATH OF NORBORNE MAN.

One of Western Carroll's Oldest Residents Passed Away Sunday:

John Wagner, one of western Carroll's oldest residents and a retired farmer, died at his home in Norborne Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, at the age of 71 years, after an illness of many months from dropsy.

Mr. Wagner was a native of Germany, came to this county when a young man and engaged in the agriculture pursuit up until his retirement several years ago. Aside from the widow he is survived by two sons and one daughter. Mr Wagner was well anf favorably known thru out the western part of the county.

Funeral services were held from the Norborne Methodist church, Tuesday afternoon, conducted bt Rev. J. N. Boyd, paster. Interment was made in Fairhaven cemetery.

Additional Note: Fairhaven Cemetery is located in Norborne, Carrol County, Missouri.

Mary Frances (Meschede) Wagner was born January 1, 1870, near Malta Bend, Mo.; died June 24, 1930; age 50 years, 5 months and 23 days. Her home is four miles north of Bolivar, but she died at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, being unable to undergo an operation.

At the age of nineteen, she was married to John Wagner, of Norborne, Mo. To this union were born eleven children, Joe, John, Frances and Charmain of Bolivar; Mrs. Lillian Driscoll, Chicago; Mrs. Esie Eck, Edmond, Okla.; Richard Wagner, state of California; Mrs. Lucile Algire, Berger, Tex.; Mrs. Marie Arriola, Kansas City; Mrs. Louise Cox, Seatle, Wash. Besides these relatives, she leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss.

The body was brought to Bolivar yesterday and the funeral service, conducted by Rev. W. R. Simpson. of the Christian church was held at the Hutcheson-Blue funeral chapel, the body being in charge of Hutcheson-Blue undertakers.

Burial was at the - Greanwood cemetery of this city.

Mary was born near Laynesville, Saline County, Missouri. She attended Little School which was near her home, and later she attended the Loretto Academy which was conducted by the Sisters of Loretto in Marshall, Missouri. This Academy is at the present time conducted by the Sisters of Mercy, and is known as Mercy Academy. Mary and her brother William attended the Academy at the same time, and they roomed and boarded with a family just across the street south of the school. She grew to womanhood in the Laynesville community.

When she married John Wagner, the two of them moved to Norborne, Missouri. They lived there a short time and then moved to Saline County where they lived for three years before moving to Oklahoma in 1891. They settled on a farm homestead near Edmond, Oklahoma.

Mary lived in Oklahoma until 1916 when she moved to Bolivar, Missouri. There she continued to live until her death in a hospital on June 24, 1930. She was buried at Bolivar, Missouri.

Richard B. "Dick" Wagner, 93, of Bolivar died in Citizens Memorial Health Care Facility Tuesday, March 10, 1992, after a lingering illness.

A longtime resident of Polk County, he was a well known retired farmer and truck gardener, selling vegetables and fruit on the Bolivar square for several years.

He is survived by one sister, Louise Cox of Sandiage, Calif.; a nephew, William Caldwell of Springfield, Va.; and other nephews and nieces.

The body was cremated, Memorial grave site services were at 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, in Greenwood Cemetery, Bolivar, with the Rev. Harold Hendrickson officiating. Burial was under the direction of Pitts Funeral Home.

I believe it was around the summer of 1963, when my mother, grandmother, sisters, and I went to visit Richard "Dick" Wagner in Polk County, Missouri.

Although we only stayed about one week, I found the experience very wonderful in getting to know Richard. He was everything a young man wanted in a Granduncle. Being a very kind and caring man, he would take me out onto the farm to pick corn and other vegetables that he would later sell in town.
