Jean, your father worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, just across the inlet from Port Orchard. In 1946 there were many many military housing areas that consisted of two family ramblers. Some of these housing areas still exist, but after all these years many have been replaced with modern houses.
I have one suggestion. Contact the Kitsap Public Library or the Kitsap County Historical Society. If your family had a telephone back then, they will be able to do a lookup for you, as they keep all the phone books back to the beginning.
Perhaps contact a county volunteer thru Cyndislist.com and see if they can track the address for you.
