I am trying to locate any information on Robert Harrison Baker, father of my Husband Thomas Harrison .
Robert Harrison Baker married Evelyn E. Massey 6th April 1942 1942 in King Co WA. The marriage licencse application, which would give me the info I need to keep searching no longer exist,. Evelyn was 18.
Witness were Charles and Dorothy Keene.
Robert Harrison Baker enlisted in the Navy WWII.
After the end of WWII, he and and his wife lived in Roanoke City, Roanoke Co VA for a period of time, then he enlisted in the Merchant Marines. He died in a explosion on his ship while seving off the coast of Petersburg Alaska in the summer of 1951.
After his death his son, Thomas Harrison BAker was born 28 April 1945 in Roanke, VA and is an only child of this cople., was in the custody of his grandmother Audrey B. and Thomas O Massey (step Grand pa) unitl his marriage.
I have contacted the Merchant Marines, reoords were destoryed in a fire in early 1960.
Alaska was not a state in 1951, If killed on a ship, were are edeath records.
The only other clue we have is that his father may have had a sister named Katherine.
So anyone that might have a small thread would great.
Thanks
Lynn Baker
