First is a question, are you my niece? I did some research
on Thomas Hansen in Aberdeen. Found a listing for Thos. H.
Hansen in 1926-27, wife Sadie L. He was a foreman at Neff
Lumber Company, living at 515 K. Street in Aberdeen. The
gazateers that I searched in ended in the late 1920s. At
that time more people had telehones and the Gazateeres
diappeared, because business were then advertising in the
telephone Directors.
Couldn't find anything on the Quinault Fire, but it was a
big one, sometime in the early 1930s. In those days there
were not many firefighters or equipment to fight fires in
the timber country. My personal experience. With my father
and mother and their three sons, we took a trip up onto the
Olympic peninsula. Between Hoquiam and Quinault, we encountered a lot of smoke. After a short distance, we were
hailed down by a deputy sherrif. All cars were stopped and
if they were men only, they were immediately made deputy
sherrifs and were sent out into the woods to fight the fire.
Since my father had his wife a three young boys, he was not
required to be a firefighter.
I printed out the list of Hansens in 1921, 1926/7 and 1918/19, and can sent it you by snail mail if you send me
your mailing address. If you are my niece, I have your address unless it has been changed.
