Regarding the brothers James and Franklin Bemis:
-- Death date not yet known for James and he does not pop up in censuses for 1880 or thereafter. Born abt 1852 in Wisconsin.
-- Franklin Herbert died 16 May 1873 at Eureka, Greenwood County, Kansas, at age 17. Born 6 April 1856 in Wisconsin.
There are six more known children of Leander:
-- Catherine, born about 1843 in New Hampshire, found in 1850 Census at Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin, but not found subsequently.
-- Arthur Leander, born 1849 in Wisconsin and died 29 October 1885 in Cowlitz County. Married Sarah Miller in 1873. (My gr-grands)
-- Carrie M. (Mary), born abt 1858 in Wisconsin. Death date not yet known. Not yet found in censuses after 1870.
-- Frederick L., born February 1862 in Kansas and died after 1910 at unknown date. Married Henrietta Brewer about 1883.
-- Charles Edgar, born April 1863 in Kansas and died 5 April 1932 in Lewis County, Washington. Married Elizabeth E. Storm in 1888.
-- Sheridan, born 1868 in Kansas and died 10 December 1879 in Eureka, Kansas.
