I am looking for information on Louis/Lewis Mayo and Jane Lawrence. Both born in very early 1800's. I have been able to trace them possibly to Canada but my grandfather never mentioned Canadian as a nationality and has said he is related to Admiral Mayo. I have William, his father as being born in 1851 in either Georgia, VT or Woodstock, VT. I originally thought GP Mayo was William's father but that William died. So George is not my connection. William's death certificate says Joseph Mayo is his father but Jane was married to Louis. I know a number of Mayos did go to Canada from the states but I don't know how to trace them. Any help on how to trace these Mayos back is greatly appreciated.
